Himitsubeya @ Nomikai | The Venetian Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV | 2024 - 2025

秘密部屋 Himitsubeya (Secret Room) at Nomikai in The Venetian Las Vegas is where the magic happens. Dark, moody, and sexy; this secret room seduces guests with intimate memories of nostalgia drawing inspiration from the Shinjuku Golden Gai, Ginza, and Nishi Azabu districts of Tokyo and bringing them to Las Vegas. The interior finishes and furniture design takes inspiration from kimono textile patterns, Japanese joinery, and an appreciate for wabi sabi, while embracing the beauty of the shadows and candle light ambiance.

Featured artwork within the speakeasy includes dynamic murals by Sush Machida and Brett Rosepiler, with original paintings by Tim Bavington, Mary Warner, and DJ Tambe. The gilded samurai sculpture is a design collaboration between Punch and artist Randy Doering of Metal Method Company (MMC). MMC fabricated the entire sculptural armor, swords, helmet, and mask by hand in their San Diego studio, applying custom patina and textural metalwork throughout to create a one-of-a kind art piece. Custom lights by Allied Maker compliment the room with subtle detailing and pair with vintage kimono displays in the lounge space. The back sushi bar display wall consists of slick bespoke Japanese knives, all unique in their blade and handles, creating an impressive display of elegance and beauty, juxtaposed against hand hewn textural millwork panels showcasing handmade craftmanship and tactility.
